Introduction to Workshops

Using only a few simple tools, a spool of thread, an assortment of beads or some wool and silk, you can learn to create your own stunning pieces of beaded or felted jewellery. Heather also shares her design tips for exploring colour in jewellery design, plus project variation ideas to show how changing the colours and combining different bead shapes and sizes in the same design can completely transform a piece.

Enjoy a hands-on tuiton session at the Buderim Studio. Participants are limited to six and for those of you who become addicted, a range of supplies for both beadweaving and felting are available for purchase.

Interested in getting your kit for FREE! Get a group on girlfriends together for a fun afternoon in your home…or a friends, and Heather will come to you. All you have to provide is a well lit space with a table that will accommodate workshop participants along with some light refreshments.

Beadweaving | Beginner

If you can thread a needle, Heather can teach you how to make this stunning 78cm beaded lariat style necklace, stitched from tiny Miyuki glass seed beads. Select from either the silver lined crystal or the rich bronze colourway to create your own hand crafted piece with a retail value of $245.

You can also elect to purchase some additional beads and make this into a 120cm length lariat that you can twist and coil or knot in so many different ways.

Cost: $140 includes all materials and light refreshments

Beadweaving | Intermediate

In this Intermediate level workshop you will learn how to work with French wire and crimps whilst making a necklace or bracelet and a pair of earrings in these beautiful silver lined crystal Miyuki beads. Explore how the addition of small glass pearls or other bead sizes and colours can add variation to the single spiral beadweaving stitch. Heather will also demonstrate how you can create your own designs once you have mastered these techniques.

Beadweaving | Advanced

Now that you have mastered the single spiral beadweaving technique and how to attach clasps and earring wires, you can take on the challenge of stitching a triple spiral rope necklace with a retail value of $325. These gorgeous jewel  tones will match almost any outfit! You will also learn how to make ‘beaded beads’ and how to turn these into earrings. Heather will also demonstrate how to use these little gems in other necklace designs.

Felting | Basics

Learn how to create unique felted jewellery using 18.5 micron Superfine Merino unspun wool. A relaxed workshop at the Buderim Studio will give you inspiration and loads of hands-on experience.

Kit includes all materials to complete a red cherry necklace and earrings plus a second piece in either bright or autumn colours.

Felting | Flowers

In this workshop you will learn the fundamentals of flat wet felting and primarily focus on creating a number of stylish wool and silk flowers that can be used on pins, on bags, hats or as gifts. Participants will gain knowledge of the different fibres available for this technique and how to incorporate silk fibres to make every piece an original.

A 50% deposit is payable at time of booking. Balance payable 7 days prior to workshop date. Deposit not refundable if balance not paid by this date, but you may transfer your booking to a future date or to another participant. Please advise name change.
